Prayer

Thoughts on Prayer……………

I asked for Strength - and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for Wisdom - and God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for Prosperity - and God gave me brain and brawn to work.
I asked for Courage - and God gave me dangers to overcome.
I asked for Love - and God gave me troubled people to help.
I asked for Favours - and God gave me opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted...and everything I needed.

For many, the amount of possessions they have, the demands others make of them, the clutter that fills their lives, the excuses they make, their denial of spirituality, all seem to crowd out the myriad possibilities there are to experience the Divine. And yet Spiritual practices in religions and lifestyles all around the world speak of the many benefits and blessings of including some form of focused prayer or healing thoughtfulness in our daily routines. Whether it is meditation, prayer, healing or simple awareness, spiritual depth, health and well-being occur when there is regularity, focus, and simplicity of practice.

But many know not where to begin.

You are never alone; you are always embraced by God's love, the love of your angels and guides by the abundance of the Universe. It's not that in our darkest hour God has forsaken us, it is we who have regularly forsaken God, the Divine, Spirit -call it what you will. It's like a massive bank account - to benefit from it, you need to make conscious deposits and withdrawals. You need to connect regularly with the Divine, just talking, or expressing gratitude, and make requests of it.

Prayer is not the prerogative of a specific religion -indeed it need not be religious at all. To pray is to ask, to plead, to petition, to give thanks and more besides. It is a way of life, a way to move through the joys, trials and tribulations of life with peace in our hearts. Through prayer we can build our awareness of the God within, to help us walk ever closer with God. And it is this awareness of God's presence that keeps us secure and centred in times of challenge.

Experience the power of prayer. True prayer goes beyond words. True prayer is an attitude of heart and mind, of receptivity and thanksgiving. Surrender your concerns as you spend time in quiet prayer on your own or by clicking our listen to a prayer or our mini-meditations links.
